Insistence on quality will always be a constant

Although VPS businesses are designed to cater for different market segments, all share the same principle of premium quality - in patient care, clinical excellence, and across all administrative functions. Each facility has its own dedicated quality team striving to achieve ever-higher standards, guided by a group-wide Quality Committee chaired by the Senior Director.

Patients are very conscious of the VPS emphasis on quality, whether members of local communities or those coming from abroad for treatment. This is evident in the number of requests to open new facilities and the volume of overseas patients - at times accounting for as much as 75 percent of monthly occupancy at some of the VPS hospitals based in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Providing the highest quality of healthcare has always been a cornerstone of the VPS philosophy. This was motivated not only by the need to meet regulatory requirements but an inherent desire to do things right, distinguishing VPS facilities by their unrivalled clinical and professional standards.

That commitment has been endorsed by accreditation or certification from a number of global authorities and standards organisations, and recognition in the form of awards received from healthcare congresses and industry-specific programmes.

Eight VPS hospitals are accredited by JCI, the global quality authority that accredits healthcare organisations and programmes in the USA and more than 60 other countries.

These are the Burjeel Hospitals in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, Medeor in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, LLH in Abu Dhabi and Musaffah, and Lifecare in Musaffah and Baniyas.

Laboratories at two VPS hospitals have qualified for accreditation by the College of American Pathologists: Burjeel and Medeor Abu Dhabi.

CAP is widely recognised as the leader in laboratory quality assurance and as an advocate of high-quality and cost-effective medical care.

LLH Hospital in Musaffah was the first in the region to gain ISO certification, qualifying for ISO 9001 in 2008 & subsequently receiving re-accreditation. The Lifecare Hospitals in Musaffah and Baniyas have also qualified for ISO 9001, the latter also achieving ISO 15189 for its laboratory, the first in Abu Dhabi.
